Cbank: Foreigners buy 389 bln rbl of foreign currency in March

MOSCOW, Apr 15 (PRIME) -- Non-residents bought a whopping 389.4 billion rubles of foreign currency on the Russian market in March, the central bank said in a report on Wednesday.

“This group of participants bought an equivalent to a total of 389.4 billion rubles in the month, which is  more than comparable figures for 2014–2015 and … is a record for the last few years,” the central bank said.

Purchases in the period from March 10 until April 8 amounted to 354 billion rubles, accumulated sales of the central bank were 245 billion rubles.

In order to prevent deficit of foreign currency liquidity, the central bank extended the currency swap limit to U.S. $5 billion from $3 billion for U.S. dollars.
